TRAINING: Gender and ECD Course for ECD Frontline Workers in Mandera, Kenya

Overview

The Gender and ECD course aims to build the capacity of ECD practitioners, government officials, frontline workers to design and deliver effective programs and services. This comprehensive course seeks to provide participants with a deep understanding of the intersection between gender and ECD by exploring how gender shapes and influences the development of young children and equip them with the necessary knowledge and skills to promote gender-responsive and inclusive practices in early childhood settings and workplace. By doing so, we aim to create a more inclusive and empowering environment for all children.

Format

The course is delivered in the English language over three days in a face-to-face seminar.

Course learning outcomes

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the various agents of socialization for children.
  2. Describe various gender stereotypes in different contexts and how this can be addressed.
  3. Identify categories of emergencies and how to help children faced with emergencies while integrating gender into the aid.
  4. Describe the role of men/fathers as caregivers, nurturers in children.
  5. Plan and implement programs with a gender lens.
  6. Develop action plans to track gender mainstreaming and integration in the programs.
  7. Share best practices during reflection sessions in terms of what is working and why, what can be done to improve on what is not working (post training).

Eligibility

This course is suitable for professionals who directly manage, assist and/or deliver ECD programmes.

Certificates

Participants who successfully meet the course requirements will receive a certificate of completion.
